IPTV and Social Media Self-Assessment
Where did you create this artifact?
This is a blog I wrote for Internet Evolution about the integration of social media into IP video platforms and how that might help to shape the future of video consumption.
What did you learn?
While doing research for this blog I learned a lot about the direction in which social media in working to integrate itself into the video world, and how IP video is take advantage of social media to enrich its content and help tailor its experience to the end user.
How did you learn this?
Most of the research performed for this blog was done via the web. I also interviewed several marketing and social media experts to gain more insight into the direction many of them see the paring of social media and IP video.
How will you apply this?
Though the vast majority of video is still consumed in a traditional method, IP video and over the top delivery is becoming much more relevant and the end user is become far more aware of its flexibility. I see this as a growing space which is well positioned for disruptive innovation so having some insight into this sliver of the industry may provide some advantage.
What challenges & obstacles did you overcome?
The largest challenge faced when looking at this piece of the industry was to distinguish between where social media was actually being integrated into IP video or when it was just being used passively and what the different effects were.
